MEET one of our Commando Instructors for some advice on tackling the SHEEP DIP.
What is the Sheep Dip?
A 2m long and wide submerged drainage pipe.
Technique and advice from a Commando Instructor
The sheep dip must be tackled with aggression and confidence:
- Aggression to get through the obstacle at speed and safely
- Confidence that your oppo’s (mates), will ensure you don’t get stuck in the tunnel
On arriving at the Sheep Dip you should enter the water and drop to your knees. You need to locate the top using both hands. Keep your hands in place as they are your guide to ensuring your head doesn’t hit the tunnel as your enter it. With a deep breath you will sub merge and will then be pushed into the tunnel by your oppo. It is key you do not kick as this will hinder the person pushing you through. At the far end you will be grabbed by another person, orientated and then become part of the team who aids others through the obstacle.
Remember aggression and confidence, confidence in your own ability and confidence in others around you!
